     What is a good story?
     Possibly the best stories possess both context and subtext, where everything relates to another thing that the reader recognizes explicitly or implicitly.  Sometimes this is constrasted as consciously or subconsciously, respectively.  Nevertheless, this deepness should not overpower or bore the reader, rather reinforce entertainment and immersion.
     A writer should not be ashamed of being niche, advant-garde, literary, or arthouse, any more than being pulp, commercial, sensational, or general, only ashamed of failing the writer's cardinal rule -- keep them turning the page, out of curiosity if for no other reason.  Be advised that you will not depart this land of pages unaffected, and the scent will linger in your memory long afterward.
